After a five hour stomach clenching rain storm -snow storm- ice storm drive, from NB to NS., we arrived. A few friends and myself roll into the town houses in Halifax. We have a short time before we need to be at the Company House to set up for the show. We have four DJs, one VJ and two live painters on the docket for the evening. We arrive at the venue and I am greeted by my dear friend and fellow artist, Ingrid. She is franticly concerned that she is late and I assure her it is all perfect timing. We communicate how we are going to set up and we both take a moment after set up to get settled into the environment so we can center ourselves and open up. I mash it out on the dance floor to Foggyswoggle…who has gone from plugging in his equipment and readying his sound, to enveloping the flow and groove of the show concept he is communicating and creating for the crowd of people there, within minutes it seems. Flailing my limbs and letting go into the sounds, I soon feel awake. The beginning of my mutant transformation has begun. Ingrid begins painting and I soon join her on canvas. A feeling of past and future combine in present to transform . Entities and bloodlines flowing . Etheric memories are becoming a reality in time. We all spend our night doing what we love. I occasionally peer out from an altered mind set to connect with the crowds movements and catch the awakened eyes of the other bodies moving around. Smiles abound. We complete our painting and an onlooker pays us for our work and carries the painting out of the venue still wet above his head over the sea of people. Success. We wrap up the night and thank each other and go on our separate ways. I spend the next few days, which seem like an eternity in themselves, meeting quiet full minded conscious thinkers and enjoy cups of tea and chats with new friends. Some getting and some giving tattoos. The invites of future shows are coming in and I feel truly valued and purpose filled in what I do amongst them.
