Whelp, here it is, a stormy day in Saint John. I am curled up inside of an old house in uptown SJ with a bowl of popcorn and a warm coffee, listening to the Grateful Dead song "Fire on the Mountain". Life....is good.
My dear friend and I just finished making travel plans for the 50th anniversary and final Grateful Dead show in Chigago that is coming up in July. When I think about this, I get a feeling that can only be described as excited disbelief....is this my reality???? I decided immediately that I will be live painting this event. Parking lot painting!!!!
The past two weeks have been a tad overstimulating with the trip to Toronto with my dear friend Stephen Lewis . A 16 hour drive each way with a show in the middle that included Stephen, The Hornitz and Afta Funk! Then a pit stop - grounding with my sweet Moon Bear in Fredericton, at her place New Africa, before returning to my cozy home to get ready for a night of DJ's and painting at the local pub Steamers.
A lovely group of diverse souls gathered to share in the sound symphonic expansion that we all contributed to in our own way.
XSTATIK started off the night with some DnB, Dub and Electro. Tim Kukula followed up with some House and Electro...and at one point also a beautiful heartbeat sound pulsed out that swelled my chest and grounded me into my center. Dono brought us through to the end of the night with some solid house, Electro and his own original material, dancing so intensely that i think he shorted out the sound equipment with his moves! :D
I actually needed a few quiet days to absorb, process, and release all of the energies that I experienced.
So, when I got home, I unpacked and buried my nose into an amazing book that my very good friend gave me. A copy of The Caper. If you have not read this book, then you are indeed missing out on sharing in a beautiful story.
Today I am applying for my very first Art Battle. EEEP!! Thank goodness for Tom Smith and his not fun. I am feeling like I just jumped off of a bridge! I excitedly copied and pasted all of the Bio info and Events list from the past few years and the sweet shows and Galleries that are coming up this spring :) .
